Paddlesports at Weir Wood Reservoir
Weir Wood Reservoir offers a fantastic setting for paddlesports, whether you’re looking for a peaceful paddle, a fun family adventure, or a unique way to exercise on the water. From canoeing and kayaking to stand-up paddleboarding, there’s something for everyone.

Paddle Hire and Launch
We offer craft hire and launch from the site for sit-on top kayaks and paddleboards from our mobile hire hut. Hire includes buoyancy aid rental, full safety briefing and access to a designated paddle area. If you have your own kayak or paddleboard, you’re welcome to launch from our dedicated access point, but please remember that we are a low-traffic site and portage is required from the carpark.
Changing rooms with hot showers and toilets are available for all water users.
Important: To protect our waters, all equipment must be clean, drained, and dry before launching. Full terms available on booking.
Instructed Paddle Sessions
Our partners at Blackland Farm Outdoor Centre offer instructed sessions to groups in canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and improvised raft building. You can pre-book sessions for parties, groups of friends, youth groups or schools directly by enquiring at info@blacklandfarm.org or calling 01342 811327 during office hours. Please note, these sessions are not available for walk-ins.
Please note, the minimum age for instructed sessions at Blackland Farm Outdoor Centre is 6+ years.
Memberships & Pricing
Single Craft Hire per Hour: £20
Single Craft Launch per Day: £20
Annual Weir Wood Sport and Leisure Memberships:
Single Adult (18+): £200/year – Includes free access to the water during specified times for paddle and sail.
Single Junior (6-17): £50/year – Must always be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
Social (No access to water, but supervisory access to facilities): £50/year
Single Craft Storage: £50 a year
⚠️ All paddlers must wear a well-fitted and tested 50N (minimum) buoyancy aid at all times on the water. Buoyancy aids are provided with all hires and instructed sessions, and may be hired for an additional charge for own launch craft.
