Dinghy Sailing at Weir Wood Reservoir
Weir Wood Reservoir offers some of the best and most scenic sailing waters in the South East, covering 280 acres and stretching 1.5 miles. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or just starting, Weir Wood provides the perfect setting for dinghy sailing, training courses, and club activities.

Dinghy Hire and Launch
Comingn soon! We offer a range of craft hire and launch from the site from our mobile hire hut. Hire includes an appropriate personal floatation device, full safety briefing and access to a designated sailing area. If you have your own dinghy, you’re welcome to launch from our dedicated access point, but please remember that we are a low-traffic site and there are limited drop-off times for launch and these must be booked in advance.
Changing rooms with hot showers and toilets are available for all water users.
Members are also welcome to attend regular sailing events at the reservoir, such as Saturday Afternoon Racing and leisure sails.
Pre-booking recommended – Walk-ins subject to availability.
Important: To protect our waters, all equipment must be clean, drained, and dry before launching. Full terms available on booking.
RYA Training Centre
Our partners at Weir Wood Sailing Club offer a range of RYA-certified courses tailored to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced sailors, including Youth Training Schemes, Adult Sailing Schemes, Race Clinics and Powerboat Training. You can pre-book sessions [here – link to online booking portal] Please note, these sessions are not available for walk-ins but you are welcome to visit or contact us for a friendly discussion about what might suit your needs.

We offer secure craft storage for members to make launch and portage that little bit easier.
Important Notice: Southern Water Exclusion Zone
To ensure safety and water quality, Southern Water has established a 20m Exclusion Zone around the ResMix unit located in the centre of the reservoir. This area is marked with orange and white buoys, and entry is strictly prohibited.
Memberships & Pricing
Single-handed Dingy Hire per Hour: £20
Small Double-handed Dinghy Hire per Hour: £25
Large Double-handed Dinghy Hire per Hour: £30
Single Craft Launch per Day: £20
Annual Weir Wood Sport and Leisure Memberships:
Single Adult (18+): £200/year – Includes free access to the water during specified times for paddle and sail.
Single Junior (6-17): £50/year – Must always be supervised by a parent or legal guardian.
Social (No access to water, but supervisory access to facilities): £50/year
Dinghy Storage: £200 a year per boat, £100 for each additional boat.
⚠️ All sailors must wear a well-fitted and tested 50N (minimum) buoyancy aid at all times on the water. Buoyancy aids are provided with all hires and instructed sessions, and may be hired for an additional charge for own launch craft.
