Membership FAQs

  • What does my membership include?

Your membership allows you to launch and use your own craft — including dinghies, windsurfers, wings, wingfoils, paddleboards, kayaks and canoes.

It also includes access to clubhouse changing rooms and toilets (with out-of-hours access for Adult, Couple, and Family members using their member codes).

  • Is equipment storage included?

No — storage is optional and charged annually:

  • Dinghy storage: £150 per space per year

  • Paddlecraft storage (SUP/kayak/canoe): £50 per craft per year

Storage spaces are for members only and subject to availability.

  • Do I need to book to launch my own craft?

Yes. All members must register their attendance through the online booking system each time they visit. When booking as a member, an automatic 100% discount is applied — the booking is purely for safety and site management purposes, allowing us to know who is on the water and when.

Non-members must book in advance and can only launch during staffed office hours.

  • What’s the difference between Social Membership and a full Water User Membership?

Social Membership: Access to the clubhouse and appropriate shore areas for youth supervision, plus 10% off in the café and bar. No water access.

Other Memberships: Full water access for launching and using your own craft, with member discounts and facility access.

  • Is the water supervised?

No — the water is not always supervised. Members use it at their own risk and must follow all safety rules.

Swimming is only permitted during organised, lifeguarded sessions.

  • What are the opening hours?

Office hours (for hire, café, and supervised sessions) are listed on our website and updated seasonally.

Adult, Couple and Family members can access the water and changing rooms out of hours using their codes.

  • How do I join?

You can join online via our booking portal or email info@weirwood.co.uk for help choosing the right membership.

  • How do I access facilities out of hours?

Members receive secure gate and keybox codes.

Keys must always be returned to the keybox after use — personal keys are not issued.

  • Do I get a membership card or craft sticker?

Yes. All members receive boat stickers and a membership card.

  • Do I need my own insurance?

Yes. Members launching personal craft must hold valid third-party liability insurance (minimum £5 million).

This must be produced on request and should align with recognised standards such as RYA or Paddle UK.

  • Are wetsuits available for hire?

No. WWSL does not hire wetsuits.

Buoyancy aids are available for hire activities and must be worn during all watersports.
